NEW SOLUTIONS AND IMPROVED HANDLING EQUIPMENT FOR THE TIRE INDUSTRY

Automatic Booker Loading with Rework Handling

Automatic booker loading devices are well known and used in the tire industry for quality assurance of treads and tires as well as for rationalisation. Systraplan, specialist for warehouse technique when it comes to flat materials, has a long history in building auto booking and handling systems for the tire industry. This machine type has been further developed on basis of experience gained with a large number of machines.

Systraplan, a company located in Herford / Germany, has been perfected the auto booking systems and is offering now although solutions for the rework handling in combination with the auto booking. In 2004 Systraplan has and is going to deliver in total 5 auto booking systems.

Reduced machine downtime

Many details have been improved to ensure a better and faster maintenance or possibly repair in order to reduce machine downtime and to raise the reliability of the auto booking systems.

For example driving chains have been replaced by maintenance-free tooth belts.
The Power Twist belts are used for transportation. These belts are non-welded and can be replaces easily and fast without using tools.

New folding device ensures faster cycle times

As a result of the modular construction, the booker folding device is the same for all systems and attached on both sides of the loading head.

The new folding device is equipped with a suction frame, which has an extra swivelling axis. Therefore the movement of the hold down, which pushes the leaf down, and the movement of the suction frame, which has opened the leaf for the hold down, is synchronised and saves cycle time. With the new folding device the leaf folding process is one smooth movement, which ensures a faster folding.

Different systems for the leaf truck transportation

The automatic leaf truck transportation differs in accordance with the amount of booker types. With the standard solution the leaf truck is driven by single sided vertical rubberised rollers. The truck is pressed against the driven rollers by means of spring loaded or pneumatic pressure applied rollers.

Many other solutions for the leaf truck transportations have been realised due to the different leaf trucks.

Servo drives

The normal tree-phase drive or frequency regulated motors of the feeding conveyor and the leaf truck charging head have been replaced by servo drives. By this method a more exact  positioning of the treads or tread batches have been achieved. In addition the dynamic of the system has been considerably increased.

Due to the servo drives and their associated positioning controls, sensors  have been considerably reduced. For the remaining sensors modern light barriers and light scanners are used.

New solutions for the rework handling

More and more companies realising the necessity to automat the handling of the treads which are rejected for rework. Systraplan has realised different solutions which are able to fully automat this handling. The solutions are always adapted to the needs of the customer.

Building stacks of approx. 5 treads with a vacuum belt system and wrapping them in foil in order to stack the packages automatically on a pallet for storing till the rework of the material, or folding the treads automatically in true feed direction for a easier manual handling.

It guarantees a constant high quality of treads as is increasingly required for high quality tires. Rationalisation measures which must reach into all areas of tire production can be effectively executed at this point.
